This Blog will contain information and projects relating the crossroads of medicine, computer science and epidemiology. I am not the top expert in any of these disciplines, but I will try to combine the knowledge I have on all of these fields into single projects. I will, therefore, have to rely on the expert knowledge of others to make my projects a success.
When pertaining to computer science and medicine/epidemiology, I will publish these projects in an open source fashion so anyone can benefit or will be able to participate. The content of these projects I want to publish as a Wiki, but I have to figure out what will be the best way to start a globally accessible Wiki that I can manage to publish my projects, without having to start up my own Wiki server with all the complexity and issues involved. Any suggestions on this topic will be welkom.
As a starter, the project I am currently working on is to develop a generic Prescriber Computerized Order Entry system. With generic I mean to say that the system should be able to manage the complete range of medical orders taking into account the heterogeneity in ordering styles that exist. If I get to my first working version I want to publish this as an open source project, as I am convinced that the best software is build in this fashion.
